
During a reptile survey of Scawfell Island, Australia, researchers found a gecko that did not morphologically represent any known species. This new gecko was reported to be found in rainforest habitat among deep rock outcropping. Surveys are nearby islands, yielded no discoveries of this new species. Fire, invasive species, and poaching are all possible threats to geckos on these Australian islands.
